Restaurant Review - Eataly NYC!!!!

NYC

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending the day with my dearest and oldest friend in NYC. As any amazing friend would, she understands my love and passion for good food. Growing up in Northern New Jersey, we've been thoroughly exposed to American Italian food, and with each of us spending time in Italy (sadly not together,) we know the real deal too.

Chen recommended this amazing market and restaurant, Eataly!

After a little stroll through Madison Square Park, we crossed over 5th Avenue to this amazing place.

Eataly | USA, Italie, Azie e.o | kruidenier | Trends: Fast & Slow, Iconisation, Authenticiteit, Healthy, Luxury

They even provide a floor-plan!  (which clearly makes me love the place even more!)

Eataly-I want to go here

We entered from 5th Ave - passing the coffee bar, the gelato, the nutella bar, and all the other scrumptious treats that make me think that I've died and gone to heaven.  I got a brief tour of the layout from my favorite New Yorker, taking pictures along the way.

(yes, that says "Live Sea Urchin")

After seeing the display of freshly made pasta, and actually witnessing the staff making fresh ravioli before my eyes, I knew what I had to have for lunch....

The Butternut Squash Ravioli in a butter sage sauce melted in my mouth...it was a taste of heaven. The dish, I believe, came with 17 ravioli, and Chen and I decided to split it.  She was still hungry, and opted to add a Margarita Pizza to her lunch (which I happily tried as well!)

Such an amazing dining experience - I highly recommend checking this place out ASAP.  We went on a Thursday around 11am, and there was no wait :)

Thank you Chen for an amazing day!

52 Weeks of Floor Plans - Week 3!

Welcome! Every week for the next year, I will be posting an original floor plan and designs that reflect my belief in simple living.   I've been toying with the idea of buying land and building a small cottage, or starter home, that I can use one day as a studio or guest house.  I've found a few inspirational images from Houzz and Pinterest that really fuel the designs, and I hope you enjoy!   Week 3! When I was in grad school, I had an assignment where I had to create a 120 sq ft dwelling for a client with " the fear of being inside a house."  Easy right?  The best solution - a glass house.  I used Phillip Johnson's Glass House as inspiration. Source The kitchen had to be super small, yet not cut off the space from light. This limited the ability to place cabinets and appliances against the wall, but this little kitchenette provide the best option for flexibility (and a dishwasher!)   Source And another option! ...

52 Weeks of Floor Plans --- Week 18!

I'm starting to think I should have named this blog   "Cooking & Cottages" Especially with Week 18's design.  With all of my recent culinary obsessions, I realized that I should consider creating a design with all of my favorite things... *A plentiful garden to grow most of my food* Source *A chef's kitchen with a gas stove* (gas stoves scare me - hence the reason the stove is on the wall furthest from the bedroom!) Source Source *A renovated barn as the facade & bones of the main living space* (I wrote my thesis on renovated barns, and love them, so I try to incorporate them into my designs whenever possible) Source *A library/ study* (and to display my ceramic collection) Source *A large picture window in the master bedroom to welcome morning light* (with the window facing east so I can wake up to the morning light coming in) Source And this list could go on and on...

52 Weeks of Floor Plans --- Week 21!

Week 21! I have a cozy bedroom now, and love its quaint size, so I stemmed this weeks design with the simplicity of the room.  The only change I would make to my current space would be to switch the window wall (I only sleep on my right side, so I would love it if the sunrise would be conveniently positioned to wake me in the morning.  I love this wall color and the retro couch.  And I'm a sucker for orange/ peach roses.   Source A clean color scheme with eclectic accents for the kitchen. Source This deep blue with white trim and light wood are very serene and relaxing (and there is a chevron blanket which makes me like this space even more!)  Source Chevron! Source I would love a walk in closet, even if a small one.  Source Simple and clean counters, dark cabinetry. Source Walk in shower with glass tile & a simple bench. Source Small but beautiful powder room. Source
