52 Weeks of Floor Plans ---Week 30!

Although this week's floor plan is small, I've allowed for a decent space for an entry. I'm a huge fan of entryways with a solid purpose.   I find these spaces so welcoming and homely.   Coats, shoes, scarves, bags, and even a little table for keys and mail.   Its a space that can introduce the decor of the house without the need to step in further. Also, this space creates a barrier for outside elements finding their way into the main living space (dirt, snow, etc.) Source Source Source Source Source Source

52 Weeks of Floor Plans --- Week 29!

Keeping it simple... Simple floor plan, but simple things can be extraordinary with the right accents. I love the dark blue cabinetry in these kitchens.  They pair well with the white subway tile, and compliment various counter-tops.  Source Source Great combination of painted white brick, chevron floor pattern, stainless steel, rustic wood beams, and a clean white counter-top. 52 Weeks of Floor Plans --- Week 28!

Who could imagine that one day people would be saying...   I want to live in a shipping container! I am completely infatuated with shipping container designs. Whether the home is modest or colossal, the capabilities with the recycled product fascinates me. There is so much potential with using this material. (For my plan below, I'm imagining 3 shipping containers, 2 large flanking a small.) I personally prefer the wood exterior.  The solar panels are a great, logical addition.  I prefer slanted roofs -elevated in the front, declining in the rear (which has potential to collect rain water for a garden.) Below are some beautiful facades - some clearly more extravagant than others, but overall, well designed! Source Source Source Source Source Source Source Source

52 Weeks of Floor Plans --- Week 27!

Great combination of chairs and table - especially love the wheels. (The vintage fridge is pretty awesome also!) The contrast of the light floors with the darker accent pieces provides great balance. Source Great color combination of lights and darks. Source Source Source Source Source

52 Weeks of Floor Plans --- Week 26!!!!

Initially, this week's design was inspired by the image below.  I loved the small living quarters, and the European feel of the space.  As I was working on the design, I came across an article about shipping containers used as the bones of homes.  Love this idea, and it conveniently would be doable with my plan below - not to mention, it is financially friendly. Source Amazing shipping container home! Source Some ideas for my plan... A very minimal and simple kitchen. Source Rustic bathroom designs... Source or a little modern... Source I would love to buy a decent piece of land and build a ton of these as guest houses on the property!
